Welcome to LodgingGuide's hospitality industry listings for the Vancouver area.
Those who experience the seemingly endless, but breathtakingly beautiful drive west across Alberta and British Columbia via the Trans-Canada Highway, finally are rewarded by descending into "the jewel" of Canada on the Pacific Ocean, a vast panorama of hilly forests set off by sparkling blue ocean, between which is a busy, contemporary living city. Also popular among State of Washington residents as a weekend change of scenery getaway, being a short drive straight north from Seattle, or a more lengthy and scenic day's drive from Spokane via the incredibly beautiful North Cascades Highway, Vancouver is warmed by the Gulf Stream, the weather here is pleasant year round, and there is never any snow within the populated areas near the coast. The Bloedel Conservatory, a tropical garden within a triodetic domed greenhouse, hosting some of the world's most exotic flora, tropical birds and fish, seems right at home here despite Vancouver's latitude in the Pacific Northwest. Vancouver has both residential areas lined with English-style gardens boasting incredibly large flowers in bloom, and more touristy areas like Grouse Mountain, accessible via the largest aerial skyride in the Northern Hemisphere. Loved the world over, Vancouver's restaurants include the finest examples of just about every cuisine on the planet, reflecting the great diversity of its residents, and the seafood here is unbelievable. Yet, like most of Canada, Vancouver retains a distinctly British look and feel as it accommodates and respects, rather than assimilates, the world's cultures.
